Prayas: An Endeavour…

With a mission to enable mentally challenged children lead a dignified life and to mainstream them with the society, Prayas (Centre for Special education and Vocational training) started in 1996. Ours is the first vocational institute for the mentally challenged in Rajasthan. Started with just five children, today Prayas is serving over 500 children through its four centers and indirectly serving 8000 families through different activities: health camps, adult education, vocational training, Bal clubs and community service.

Prayas has a large team of 56 people at the supervisory and implementation level. The staff occupy various positions across the organization including community workers, teachers, special educators, vocational educators, helpers and assistants, administrative and finance staff who are responsible for operations in the four schools at Raja Park, Amagarh, Sanganer and Jhalana.

Our Objectives:
• Provide Inclusive education.
• Ability development and vocational training.
• Enhance skills of differently-able children and develop positive attitude towards self-reliance.
• Create community-based rehabilitation for special children.
• Advocate a network with governmental and non-governmental institutions for the rights of children.
• Provide home based services for severe category children.
• Women empowerment.
• Run health awareness campaigns.
• Livelihood
